Islamic Ideology: The Beautiful Names of Allâh_ Ar-Rab “1”_ By his eminence Dr. Mohammad Ratib An-Nabulsi

Translated by: Hanan Mansi, Australia

In the Name of Allâh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Praise be to Allâh, Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad the truthful in promise and the worthy of all trust, and upon his Family and Companions.

O Allâh, deliver us from the darkness of ignorance and delusions into the light of knowledge and science, and from the mire of lust into the Eden of good deeds.

Allâh’s Beautiful Name: Ar-Rub (The Lord, The One and Only):

Honorable brothers, as you already know

“ Allâh has ninety nine names, a hundred minus one, he who  knows them enters paradise”

[agreed on from Abu Hurairah]

And in the holy Qur’an:

“And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allâh, so call on Him by them…”

[Sûrat Al_A’raf (The Heights), aya 180]

It was reported from the prophet PBUH: Allâh has a name which is the Greatest, what is the Greatest name? Some people said the ‘ħay and Qayyoom’ (The Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists).  An acceptable interpretation states that the Greatest name is the name that concerns your condition; the name “Ash-Shâfi’ (The Healing) is the Greatest name for the sick people, AlMughni’ the (The all Provider/ ) is the greatest name for the poor, AlAdl’ (The all Just) is the greatest name for the oppressed, ‘An-Nâser’ (The Helper/Supporter) is the greatest name for the subdued. It was reported that  ‘Ar_Rub’ is the greatest name of Allâh because it is the closest name to man, therefore Allâh the Almighty said:

“I swear by this city (Makkah) (1) , And you are free (from sin, and to punish the enemies of Islam on the Day of the conquest) in this city (Makkah)(2), And by the begetter (i.e. Adam PBUH) and that which he begot (i.e. his progeny).”

[Sûrat Al-Balad (The City), aya 1-3]

The system of Fatherhood is one of the biggest signs that indicate the greatness of Allâh:

The truth is that the system of fatherhood is one of the greatest indications on the greatness of Allâh. Man’s happiness is with his son’s happiness, his peace is with his son’s peace. The system of fatherhood is an indication of Allâh. Someone who wishes that you would precede him, excel over him, someone who is not happy except with your safety and happiness, therefore Allâh the Almighty said:

“I swear by this city (Makkah) (1) , And you are free (from sin, and to punish the enemies of Islam on the Day of the conquest) in this city (Makkah)(2), And by the begetter (i.e. Adam PBUH) and that which he begot (i.e. his progeny).”

[Sûrat Al-Balad (The City), aya 1-3]

That is if we imagine that a large firm wanted to recruit an employee, this employee goes through a period under probation where all his mistakes are counted, if they are more than acceptable, he will be refused. But if the manager of the firm wanted his son to be the employee, what happens? The aim here would be educating not counting the mistakes, the son is guided at each mistake, he is taught and guided_ that is the father’s case.

Ar-Rub is the compassionate father over his children:

If we said ‘All praise be to Allâh Lord of the Worlds’, what does the word ‘Rub’ mean simply? The primary and self evident meaning is that the father provides a house for his family, provides furniture for the house, equipment, food and drink. If he sees that his child is sick, he runs to the doctor for treatment and supervises his taking the medicine, if he sees something in his child’s hand that does not belong to him, he will ask him and interrogate him and he may punish him and educate him. The simplest explanation for the meaning of ‘ Ar-Rub’ is the compassionate father to his children who provides the food , shelter, drink, needs, school, the private room, guidance, education, accounting for, punishment sometimes and honoring and rewards other times

We can understand the meaning of the name of the father simply from a knowledgeable father, merciful father, a father who works hard to provide his children with all their needs and educate their bodies and minds and souls, educate them socially, physically and sexually. This compassionate father, the knowledgeable, the merciful is not concerned of anything except his children’s destiny, their happiness, their faith, and their rising. We can understand the meaning of this name that could be the Greatest Name of Allâh from the fatherly concepts, that is why it is not strange that system of fatherhood is an indication of the greatness of Allâh.

“I swear by this city (Makkah) (1) , And you are free (from sin, and to punish the enemies of Islam on the Day of the conquest) in this city (Makkah)(2), And by the begetter (i.e. Adam PBUH) and that which he begot (i.e. his progeny)(3), Verily, We have created man in toil(4) ”

[Sûrat Al-Balad (The City), aya 1-4]

“The Lord” is the closest of Allâh’s beautiful  names to man because Allâh educates us through His signs

That name was mentioned in the holy Qur’an, Allâh the Almighty said:

“(It will be said to them): Salam (peace be on you)- a Word from the Lord (Allâh), Most Merciful”

[Sûrat Ya- Sin, aya 58]

“A fair land and an Oft-Forgiving Lord!”

[Sûrat Saba’(Sheba), aya 15]

This name might be the closest of the beautiful names to man, because Allâh the Almighty educates us; our bodies, minds and souls through his cosmic, formational and Qur’anic signs.

One of the most accurate meanings of Lordliness is that Allâh gave to each thing its complete form and then guided it aright.

Honorable brothers, Allâh the Almighty mentioned the concept of Lordliness in many verses, He said:

“Fir’aun (Pharoah) said: “Who then O Musa (Moses), is the Lord of you two?”(49), [Musa(Moses)] said: “ Our Lord os He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.”

[Sûrat Ta-Ha, aya 49, 50]

He gave him the fluid figure, the right systems, the right senses, the right texture, the right features, He gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.

The mosquito is one of the signs of Allâh that indicates His greatness where He provided it with many systems such as:

1. A thermal reception system:

“Fir’aun (Pharoah) said: “Who then O Musa (Moses), is the Lord of you two?”(49), [Musa(Moses)] said: “ Our Lord is He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.”

[Sûrat Ta-Ha, aya 49, 50]

From the most accurate meanings of  Lordliness is that Allâh the Almighty gave to each thing its form and nature. The mosquito needs to see things their heat, not by their colors, nor size or shape. Allâh the Almighty gave the mosquito a thermal reception system, the sensitivity of this system is one thousandth percent.

He gave it a thermal system, that is a radar.

2. Blood analysis system:

The mosquito has a blood analysis system. Not every kind of blood suits it, it analyses the blood first and then sucks it. Two brothers might sleep in the same bed, one of them wakes up with many stings and the other with  nothing at all.

3. A liquefaction system:

A liquefaction system because the adhesiveness of the human blood does not flow in its trunk.

4. An anesthetization system:

The mosquito an anesthetization system in order not to be killed during blood sucking. It sucks the blood and flies away. The effect of anesthetization ends, the human feels the sting in his hand, so he suspects that it is still on his hand, so he hits it where in fact it is flying in the sky of the room laughing at him.

“[Musa(Moses)] said: “ Our Lord is He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.”

[Sûrat Ta-Ha, aya 49, 50]

He gave it an analysis system, a liquefaction system, an anesthetization system, a thermal reception system, forty eight teeth in its mouth, a hundred eyes in its head, three hearts in its chest; a central heart and a heart for each wing, now there are six knives in its trunk; four knives that make square cuts, and two knives in the shape of two tubes in order to suck the blood, crooks in its legs when it stands on glass or soft surface, and claws in its legs when it stands on a rough surface.

Allâh the Almighty created man in the best stature, and this is presented in:

Concerning this,  Allâh the Almighty said:

“Verily, We created man in the best stature (mould)”

[Sûrat At-Tîn (The Fig), aya 4]

1.  The Eye:

He gave you two eyes in order to realize the third dimension, with one eye you see the length and width, with two eyes you see the third dimension. He gave you two ears in order to recognize the direction of the sound, a horn of a vehicle might be blown on your right, this sound enters your right ear  before the left one with a difference of one thousandth six hundredth and twenty parts of the second, in the brain there is a system that reveals the discrimination  between the two sounds so it discovers that the horn is from the right side, so it gives the brain an order to move to the left side.

“ [Musa(Moses)] said: “ Our Lord is He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.”

[Sûrat Ta-Ha, aya 49, 50]

2. The Hair:

Each hair has an artery, a vein, a nerve, a muscle, a fat gland, and a chromatin gland.

There are a hundred and thirty million bacillus and a cone in the eye’s retina, a hundred and thirty million in one and a quarter millimeter, it means a hundred million light receptives in each square millimeter in order to distinguish eight million colors.

“[Musa(Moses)] said: “ Our Lord is He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.”

[Sûrat Ta-Ha, aya  50]

3. The  Brain:

He made anti-freeze in the water of the eye, He made the brain to contain a hundred and forty billion depending dark cells that do not know their function yet.

“ [Musa(Moses)] said: “ Our Lord os He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.”

[Sûrat Ta-Ha, aya  50]

The talk about the Allâh and the body takes years and years, Allâh the Almighty said:

“And also in your own selves. Will you not then see?”

[Sûrat Adh-Dhâriyât (The Winds that Scatter), aya 21]

Check the meaning of Lordliness.

“[Musa(Moses)] said: “ Our Lord is He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.”

[Sûrat Ta-Ha, aya 50]

4. The Bones:

This occurs in man, the human’s bones grow and reach the suitable level and then growth stops. The scientists express this state as the sleep of the bony cell, the bone is broken after seventy years, the bony cell wakes up and renovates this fracture.

“ [Musa(Moses)] said: “ Our Lord is He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.”

[Sûrat Ta-Ha, aya  50]

He did not make sensory nerves in the hair, otherwise you have to go to hospital for full anesthesia for each haircut.

“ [Musa(Moses)] said: “ Our Lord os He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.”

[Sûrat Ta-Ha, aya  50]

The Greatness of Allâh the Almighty in creating the fetus where:

1. Allâh created an amount of iron in the baby’s spleen enough for two years until he is able to eat:

Our understanding of things is superficial, if we go deeper in our creation, we can see the greatness of Allâh the Almighty. The meaning of ‘Ar-Rub’, He gave us everything we have, the infant does not get iron from his mother’s milk, so Allâh made an amount of iron stored in the infant’s spleen enough for two years until he is able to eat.

2. Providing the infant with the sucking reflex:

He gave the infant the sucking reflex. As soon as the baby is born, he/she devours his/her  mother’s breast and closes  tightly and sucks the air, then  milk flows/comes.

3. Providing the infant with a fat solvent at birth:

The baby’s digestion system is full of fatty material at birth, the first two days, he doesn’t get milk, he gets a material that dissolves fat.

“, [Musa(Moses)] said: “ Our Lord is He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.”

[Sûrat Ta-Ha, aya  50

The Balance System in humans is one of the greatest signs that indicate Allâh’s Greatness:

The talk about this topic is endless,  but what is the meaning of ‘Ar-Rub’? He gave you all your abilities, all what you need from systems, tools, textures, and qualities; that is there is an artery in the heart with no specific function, its evident function is that when  some arteries are blocked, this artery is taken and placed as spare tool for the heart.

The talk about the creation of man is endless, but the meaning of ‘Ar-Rub’ that He gave you everything you need, He said and then He guided; guided you to your interests. He made a balance system in your middle ear so that you do not fall down while you are walking, that system has three canals with liquid and hairs above the liquid,  that if you lean to the right, the liquid stays flat, it touches the inclined wall, the hairs sense, and get you back to your situation. Except for the balance system, no one will ever be able to walk on their feet, the evidence is that you cannot make a dead man stand on his feet,  he lost balance. With balance you have nice small legs, except for the balance system, you will need a large base to lean on, the evidence is that in the fabrics shops they place a statue of a woman with a seventy centimeter base in order to keep the body standing.

“ [Musa(Moses)] said: “ Our Lord is He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.”

[Sûrat Ta-Ha, aya 50]

The Mother’s Placenta:

In a fleshy plate that comes out with the fetus there are unbelievable things; the mother’s blood  circulation is gathered with that of the fetus and they never get mixed, and each blood has a certain type, and it is known to doctors that if the blood received a different blood type, it would be decomposed  and the mother and the baby would  die immediately. How do the two bloods not get mixed? There is a membrane  between the two bloods, called the wise membrane which takes the oxygen from the mother’s blood and puts it in the fetus’ blood. Of course when the oxygen is taken, the wise membrane performs the role of  the respiratory system, it takes the sugary substances from the mother’s blood and puts it in the fetus’ blood, it performs the role of the digestive system, it takes the insulin from the mother’s blood and puts it in the fetus’ blood, it performs the role of the pancreas, now the fetus’ blood contains sugar, oxygen, and insulin. The sugar is burnt through the oxygen with the help of the insulin. The temperature of the fetus is 37°C, the burning process produces carbon dioxide which the wise membrane  takes from the fetus’ blood and puts it in the mother’s, carbon dioxide is part of the mother’s breathing, the immunity factors are passed to the fetus through the wise membrane that the fetus is immunized/protected against all the diseases the mother is infected with. The wise membrane chooses the right nutrition; protein, fat, sugar, vitamins, minerals, semi-minerals, as if it is a world of nutritional scientists, and the ratio is changed hourly and implemented. That is why the doctors called it the wise membrane, if this membrane is handed to a group of excellent doctors, the fetus will die within an hour. Now the fetus needs a specific substance that is missing in the mother’s blood, the mother craves for the food that contains that substance, the mother’s craving for some kinds of food is the fetus’ need to some nutrition.

“He gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.”

[Sûrat Ta-Ha, aya 50]

The more you understand the tiny signs of Allâh in His creation the more you will glory Him:

( “..It is only those who are have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allâh,..”

[Sûrat Fatir or Al-Mala’ikah (the originator of Creationor the Angels)]

The more your understanding of the tiny signs of Allâh in His creation , the more you will glory Him and become fearful and submissive.

Thinking deeply in the creation of the heavens and the earth is the nearest way to Allâh:

He gave us the perfect creation, the whale weighs a hundred and fifty tons, fifty tons fat, fifty tons bones, fifty tons meat, ninety barrels fish oil, and its baby is fed three hundred kilograms of milk  three times daily.

“He gave to each thing its form and nature.”

[Sûrat Ta-Ha, aya  50]

From a mosquito with different systems, to the blue whale that weighs more than a hundred and fifty tons.

“He gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.”

[Sûrat Ta-Ha, aya 49, 50]

When you think deeply in the creation of the heavens and the earth you find yourself  before the greatness of Allâh, as if thnking deeply in the creation of the heavens and the earth is the nearest way to Allâh, and the most spacious door that leads to Allâh, do not forget this verse:

“Fir’aun (Pharoah) said: “Who then O Musa (Moses), is the Lord of you two?”(49), [Musa(Moses)] said: “ Our Lord is He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.”

[Sûrat Ta-Ha, aya 49, 50]

Follow up is an important and  major factor in education:

Now to the follow up, look at the compassionate, perfect, educated and merciful father how he follows up his children, when they go out, who their friends are, and why they are late. The follow up, what did Allâh the Almighty say about this follow up?

“ Is then He (Allâh) Who takes charge (guards, maintains, provides) of every person and knows all that he has earned (like any other deities who know nothing)?

[Sûrat  Ar-Ra’d (The Thunder), aya, 33]

Imagine the doctor who visits a patient and asks for analysis, the blood pressure is high so he gives directions to stop salt, if the patient has anemia, he gives direction for giving him drugs that contain iron. The doctor always follows up the case of his patient, any lack  or increase or extremism in the analysis of a decision he makes, Allâh the Almighty says:

“ Is then He (Allâh) Who takes charge (guards, maintains, provides) of every person and knows all that he has earned (like any other deities who know nothing)?

[Sûrat  Ar-Ra’d (The Thunder), aya, 33]

That is education, we repeat that the name ‘Ar-Rub’ is the closest of the beautiful names to humans because the human father is a father. Once I was walking in the street when I heard someone calling another saying: “whoever has no father has no Lord” he has a Lord. We have a Lord who raises us all and we are all in the intensive care  if Allâh wills.

The Uniqueness of Allâh the Almighty with the creation and there is no creator but Allâh

Now there is another meaning of  Lordliness, Allâh is the only creator of everything, this is a new meaning , Allâh the Almighty is singlehanded in the creation and there is no creator but Allâh.

“ Allâh is the Creator of all things,..”

[Sûrat Az-Zumar (The Groups), aya 62]

He created

“..and He is the Wakîl (Trustee, Disposer of affairs, Guardian) over all things”.

[Sûrat Az-Zumar (The Groups), aya 62]

He acted, that is why our master Hûd said:

“ ..So plot against me, all of you, and give me no respite (55), I put my trust in Allâh, my Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving (living) creature but He has the grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on the Straight Path( the truth)”

[Sûrat Hûd (Prophet) Hûd, aya 55, 56]

Challenging, Allâh the Almighty is unique in creation and acting.

The Perfection of the Creation indicates the perfection of behavior:

The very accurate rule is that the perfection of the creation indicates the perfection of behavior, and there are many signs in this universe that indicate the Self Existent(the One Who sustains and Protects all thst exists) of the heavens and the earth.

Allâh the Almighty has His beautiful divine names and His best qualities, Allâh the Almighty said:

“And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allâh, so call on Him by them…”

[Sûrat Al_A’raf (The Heights), aya 180]

It is not suitable nor acceptable nor rationalized to worship other than the Lord of the Worlds:

From the meanings of Lordliness, Allâh the Almighty said:

“He said: “ Do you not observe that which you have been worshipping (75), You and your ancient fathers ?(76), verily they are enemies to me, save the Lord of the ‘âlamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists)(77)”

[Sûrat Ash-Shu’arâ’, (The Poets), aya 75-77]

Who is the Lord of the worlds? Allâh the Almighty said:

“ Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me(78), And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink, And when I am ill, it is He who cures me(80), And Who will cause me to die, and then  will bring me to life (again)(81)

[Sûrat Ash-Shu’arâ’, (The Poets), aya 78-80]

That is the Lord, so it is not appropriate, nor acceptable, nor reasonable to worship other than the creator, Allâh the Almighty said:

“O mankind! Worship your Lord (Allâh), Who created you and those who were before you so that you may become Al-Muttaqin (the pious)”

[Sûrat Al-Baqarah (The Cow), aya 21]

“And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allâh, so call on Him by them…”

[Sûrat Al_A’raf (The Heights), aya 180]

One of the most important features of Muslims ideology is knowing the beautiful names of Allâh:

The name ‘Ar-Rub’ may be the greatest name of Allâh, even though the greatest name of Allâh is the name that you are in an urgent need for, the greatest name for the poor is ‘The All Provider’, the greatest name of Allâh for the  oppressed is ‘The All Just’,  the greatest name of Allâh for the weak is ‘The Most Powerful’, the greatest name of Allâh for the defeated is ‘The Supporter/Helper, the greatest name of Allâh for the ignorant is ‘The Omniscient’. You need the beautiful names of Allâh and His best features in anything, Allâh the Almighty said:

“ Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me(78), And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink, And when I am ill, it is He who cures me(80), And Who will cause me to die, and the  will bring me to life (again)(81)

[Sûrat Ash-Shu’arâ’, (The Poets), aya 78-80]

That is why dear brothers ‘Ar-Rub’ is the One who raises his slaves; their bodies and souls, and guides them to their benefits, guides them through revelation, guides them with successfulness then to paradise, guides them to their interests with the systems and the features they were granted , and guides them to Him through revelation and success, Allâh the Almighty said:

“Truly they are young men who believed in their Lord (Allâh) and we increased them in guidance”

[Sûrat Al-Kahf (The Cave), aya 13]

Then He guides them to paradise, that is why dear brothers knowing the beautiful names of Allâh is a major part of Muslims ideology, even though it is one of the most important  features of Muslims ideology.

And all Praise be to Allâh Lord of the Worlds
